The mean percent area under the blood lipid and lipoprotein concentration-time curve (AUC) for females was greater than that for males at any age, except at 76 days when there was a significant difference of less than 1.1% among animals of both sexes. The mean percent AUC values of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) were higher in females than in males of all ages studied. Total cholesterol (TC) of both females and males declined with age; the mean percent AUC of TC for females was 37% and for males 38% at 90 days of age and less than 30% at 230 days. The mean percent AUC of the other lipoproteins measured were: very low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (VLDL-C): 4.6% for females and 5.0% for males; low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C): 5.9% for females and 7.3% for males; and of triglyceride (TG): 2.4% for females and 6.9% for males.
