Application Package Files
A typical autocad package includes three types of files:
Design File: A design file is the only type of file that is not designed to be stored in the Autocad package directory (package). Rather, it is used to design the CAD drawings. Design files are created as a single document and saved as a single file when you finish the drawing. Design files have a.dwg extension.
Drafting File: Drafting files are created in conjunction with the design files and are not used alone. They are also created as a single document and saved as a single file when you finish the drawing. Drafting files have a.dxf extension. The.dxf extension will change if you re-save your drawing as a new.dwg or.dwf file. Note: Most of the files you create while working in AutoCAD are created as a drawing file, but you will need to save some of them as a drafting file. We will describe this shortly.

How to handle non-English characters when using the file system?
I’ve a computer with a lot of non-English characters (Arabic, Hebrew etc) and I need to copy/paste files to this computer from my computer with English characters.
I’ve tried “My Computer” and then selecting my folder with non-English characters and right-click and “Copy”. I thought this would copy everything but it didn’t work.
I’ve tried right-click, paste and then selecting the destination folder with non-English characters, but again, nothing happened.
The only way I could achieve this is if I use notepad and copy/paste the text from the English version of my folder to the non-English version of the folder.
I don’t understand how this works and why it’s so difficult to select/copy/paste from/to the “computer”.
Open the destination folder in the file explorer and copy/paste from Windows explorer to the destination folder.
If this is a folder containing files and text with these characters it will become corrupt in the copy process. In this case you can export the contents as a.txt file.
You can open the File Explorer and right-click on the target folder and select the option “Edit File Name”
There you will be able to rename the files to your preferred format (for example a translation from hebrew to english).
